During the conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. President Joe Biden pledged to provide Ukraine with air defense systems.

The conversation between the two leaders occurred after a la large-scale Russian missile attack on numerous regions of Ukraine.

Biden has pledged to continue providing Ukraine with the support it needs to protect it, including “advanced air defense systems.”

After a conversation with Biden, President Zelensky tweeted that “air defense (SAM) is currently a top priority of the Ukraine-US defense cooperation.”

In total, 84 Russian missiles were launched at the territory of Ukraine on October 10. 43 of them were shot down. Of the 24 Russian kamikaze drones, 13 were neutralized.

The Air Force Command reported that the invaders used Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles that were launched from eleven Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bomber jets based in the Caspian region.

The invaders also used Kalibr cruise missiles launched from vessels in the Black Sea. The use of the ground-based Iskander systems from different directions was also recorded.

Biden expressed his condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured in these Russian “senseless attacks.”

The U.S. President also stressed his continued cooperation with allies and partners to continue to recover losses from Russia and hold it accountable for its “war crimes and atrocities”, as well as provide Ukraine with security, economic, and humanitarian assistance.

At the end of September, Oleksii Reznikov, Ukrainian Defense Minister, shared that future Ukrainian NASAMS air defense system operators are already undergoing training.
