The crew of the Shadow unit and the 413th Unmanned Systems Battalion destroyed a Russian Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system.
The Shadow unit posted the video of the defeat on its Telegram page.
The defeat of the Russian SAM was carried out in close cooperation with the 413th Raid Separate Battalion of Unmanned Systems, which struck the Russian system.
Initially, the Shadow unit detected the Russian system at a combat position with a working radar system. After identifying the target, the position coordinates were transmitted to the soldiers of the 413th Raid Separate Battalion of Unmanned Systems.
The system was hit by an American Switchblade loitering munition, which caused the radar to stop working and the system itself to leave its combat position.
In general, this type of system has become a typical target for drone operators, as well as for the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ cannon and rocket artillery, which have already destroyed more than 65 units of this system.
Such frequent use of this type of SAM is due to its relative mobility, vertical missile launch, rapid response, and impressive ammunition.
Depending on the modification, it can be equipped with 8 9M331 (Tor-M1) or 16 9M338K (Tor-M2) missiles.
In November, operators of the 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment destroyed a Russian Tor-M2 system using a US Switchblade 600 kamikaze drone.
The Tor-M2 self-propelled Russian air defense system launcher can operate autonomously, independently detecting and engaging air targets at a distance of up to 16 kilometers and an altitude of up to 10 kilometers.
The vehicle is armed with 16 anti-aircraft missiles vertically mounted in a rotary launcher.
The crew consists of three people.
