Documents on the preparation for the attack were published by the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The documents obtained by Ukrainian intelligence refer to the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Russian Federation preparing for the invasion.

The rationale for such an invasion is to avoid involving Russia “in a regional or large-scale war with NATO members.”

The aggressors have analyzed the situation in Belarus after the 2020 presidential election. They have written that it is necessary to apply psychological and informational pressure on the protesters, opposition groups, and leadership of the Baltic states and Eastern Europe.

The military leadership of the Russian Federation has been tasked with bringing the troops into the territory of Belarus. The redeployment of the Russian army was to take place during joint exercises.

The main stage of training happened at the “Prudboy,” “Ashuluk,” “Kapustin Yar” training grounds, as well as “Arzgirsky” and “Kopanskoy” ground aviation training bases.

Russia is now actively using the infrastructure of Belarus to attack Ukraine. Some of the troops withdrawn from the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions remain in Belarus, which counts up to 20 battalion tactical groups.

The Ukrainian military leadership sees this as a potential threat of a re-attack on the northern regions.
