The Russian military command sent armored vehicles and infantry to assault the coal mine between Krasnohorivka and Mariyinka.
Ukrainian volunteer Yuriy Biryukov shared that the Russian assault took place “with a predictable outcome.”
The invaders launched several waves of offensive in the direction of the mine on July 15.
The servicemen shared that the Russians were using infantry fighting vehicles and tanks under the cover of smoke.
Armored vehicles assisted the infantry in reaching the mine. Then, the equipment left the mine area to avoid being destroyed. However, the Russians still lost some of the vehicles during the assault.
Yuriy Biryukov also released a video featuring Ukrainian artillery working on Russian infantry in a coal mine.
Soldiers of the 79th Air Assault Brigade are working against the Russians in this area.
The Ukrainian General Staff also confirmed the Russian offensive in the area.
“In the direction of Mariyinka, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue holding back the advance of Russian troops in the areas of Mariyinka and Krasnohorivka,” the General Staff said.
The General Staff also added that the enemy shelled over ten settlements. Those include Krasnohorivka, Mariyinka, Novomykhailivka, and Maksimilianivka of the Donetsk region.
In Mariyinka, the most powerful assault in several weeks took place along the entire front line in the city and the surrounding area at the beginning of July.
In a few days, the Russians staged twelve assaults on Ukrainian positions with the support of artillery, aviation, and armored vehicles, including tanks.
