The Russian naval base Novorossiysk has currently the least activity of surface ships over the entire period of observation.

The satellite images were published by the user on the social network X.

The image captures the smallest number of surface ships at the Novorossiysk Naval Base: one Project 775 landing ship, one Ivan Gren-class landing ship, and two Sivuch class gunboats.

Small missile ships, as well as some landing ships, were moved to the Sea of Azov to disguise them from Ukrainian naval drones.

There are no large ships at the naval base, although until recently, two Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates, three Buyan-M corvettes, and four Kilo-class submarines and Paltus-class submarines were permanently stationed there.

There is a possibility that these ships went out to sea to launch cruise missiles at Ukraine and had not yet returned at the time of the recording.

Currently, the Russian Black Sea Fleet is in a rather dangerous situation due to the active use of surface drones that pose a threat to Russian ships.

In addition, Ukraine’s active development of naval drones creates a new danger for Russian naval helicopters. First of all, this is due to the installation of R-73 guided missiles on naval drones.

At the beginning of June, satellite images were published capturing Russian landing ships leaving the port of Novorossiysk, where they had been hiding from Ukrainian attacks for a long time, as part of a powerful escort.

Comparing the latest satellite images from Airbus for June 5 with data from June 2, the analyst noted that a large group of Russian Navy ships had left the port of Novorossiysk.

The vessels in question are:

  • Two Project 22160 patrol ships;
  • Two Buyan-class corvettes;
  • Two Ropucha-class landing ships;
  • One Ivan Gren-class landing ship;
  • One Tapir-class landing ship;
  • Two Kilo-class submarines.

Together with them, two Project 266M “Aquamarine-M” minesweepers and one Project 12700 “Alexandrite” minesweeper also set off in an unknown direction.
