Soldiers of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade named after Tadeusz Kosciuszko are undergoing training to use Abrams tanks.
The video capturing the exercises was released on the Brigade’s Twitter page.
The whole process takes place under the guidance of instructors from the USA.
It is noted that after a series of training sessions on simulators, the first crews are performing defense and attack fire missions.

The Polish military had recently performed the first firing with Abrams tanks.
The first task was to perform a technical shot and LFAST (Live-Fire Accuracy Screening Test). This test confirms the accuracy of the calibration of the entire tank armament system – guns, SKO (compliance with ballistic tables), and gunner and commander settings.
The 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade named after Tadeusz Kosciuszko is part of the 18th Mechanized Division named after General Tadeusz Buk.
It also incorporates the 19th Mechanized Brigade named after Major General Franciszek Kleeberg, the 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade named after Brigadier General Mechyslav Borut-Spyhovych, the 18th Support Regiment, and the 18th Command Battalion. The division is also armed with Leopard 2A5/2PL tanks.
In July, Poland agreed to a contract to purchase 116 M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks to replace its own T-72M/M1/M1R tanks, as well as a number of PT-91 Twardy tanks transferred to Ukraine.
M1A1 Abrams is an upgraded version of the M1 Abrams that started its service with the U.S. military in 1991.
A total of 4,796 М1А1 tanks were produced for the United States Army and another 221 tanks for the United States Marine Corps.
On April 5, 2022, Mariusz Błaszczak, Polish Minister of National Defense, signed a contract to purchase 250 M1A2 Abrams SEP V3 tanks.
It is planned that M1A2 SEP V3 tanks will start departing the American production lines at the end of 2024, and their delivery to Poland will start in early 2025.
During the NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting in Bucharest, Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, called for a decision on the transfer of Western-made tanks to Ukraine.
He emphasized that the partners should change the logic in their supply of weapons to Ukraine and provide them not after something bad happens, but rather to prevent a bad development of events. In particular, through arming Ukraine with Western equipment.
At the beginning of November, Oleksii Makeyev, Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, reported that negotiations on the transfer of Leopard tanks are ongoing.
