The Netherlands will allocate more than €100 million to the Czech Republic’s initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine around the world.

Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, announced this.

The politician stated this on Monday, February 26, after a conference of European leaders dedicated to helping Ukraine that took place in Paris.

“It is essential, first and foremost, that we deliver what we’ve promised. And look at what else we can do. That is why the Netherlands is contributing more than 100 million euros to the Czech initiative to quickly deliver hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to Ukraine,” Rutte wrote on Twitter(X).

He added that the countries that will provide the ammunition have asked not to be named.

Rutte also emphasized that Russia is preparing for a long war, so the allies should continue to demonstrate “unwavering” support for Ukraine.

“That is why the Netherlands is concluding a security agreement with Ukraine to continue to support the country for at least the next 10 years. To safeguard the future security of Ukraine and that of the Netherlands,” Rutte noted.

Recently, the Czech Republic found about 800,000 artillery shells of NATO and Soviet-era caliber that could be shipped to Ukraine within a few weeks.

According to Czech President Petr Pavel, the country’s representatives managed to discover about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.

Speaking in Paris, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala pointed out that about 15 countries have expressed interest in the initiative, which focuses on finding artillery ammunition for Ukraine around the world.

The details of the agreement on the supply of more than hundreds of thousands of 122 mm artillery munitions to Ukraine, announced by Germany, were also disclosed.

In addition, German officials are holding secret talks with India on the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine.
