The information about the exchange of prisoners was published by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
“Today we exchanged 60 servicemen, including 10 officers. 16 civilians are also coming back home,” she said.
The previous exchange of prisoners of war was completed on April 14, when 30 people were brought back due to the exchange – 5 officers, 17 servicemen, and 8 civilians, including one woman.
On the same day, two Ukrainian pilots were released from Russian captivity by the efforts of the Ministry of Defense.
On April 18, the Commanders of the Mariupol defenders called on the West to provide guarantees for civilians to leave the besieged city. They also demanded that Ukraine be provided with heavy weapons so that the Ukrainian servicemen could unblock the besieged city.
