Serhiy Volyna, Commander of the 36th Separate Marine Infantry Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynsky, wrote an address calling to help Ukraine with heavy weapons.
Militarnyi informs about this.
Soldiers need those weapons to unblock the city.
The text of the address was published on Serhiy Volyna’s Facebook page.
Serhiy Volyna stressed that the defenders of Mariupol are fighting fierce battles to restrain the army of thousands of invaders.
“The enemy has besieged the city and is holding hundreds of thousands of civilians hostage. We are using our military bunkers to hide women and children, including infants. Mostly relatives of our servicemen, who are wanted by the Russians. Without heating, water, or food. Our wounded are dying every day in unbearable torment because medicines, disinfectants, anesthesia capacities are long over,” he wrote.
The Marine commander claimed that the military is caring for over a thousand civilians. But he urged not to believe the Russian promises of a “green corridor” for the military.
“There is no doubt that this is a hoax to destroy the Ukrainian military formation in Mariupol without a fight,” the Marine commander added.
Serhiy Volyna stressed that the city needs to break the siege immediately.
To make it happen, the Ukrainian military is in need of heavy weapons.
“It is in the power of the EU and the United States to provide it to us. Heavy weapons for the Mariupol defenders will save the Ukrainian military formation. Mariupol can be saved. We are ready to fight till the last drop of blood. But we must know that the world has done everything possible for this. Then we are ready to do even the impossible for our country,” reads the address.
The text of the address appeals to the pages of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the United States Joe Biden, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson, and the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The defenders of Mariupol continue to fight in the city. The Azov Regiment has published a video of hostilities destroying an enemy unit.
In addition, Viktor Medvedchuk recorded an appeal asking to be exchanged for defenders and civilians of Mariupol.
