Tanks and armored personnel carriers of the Thai army crossed the border and invaded Cambodia.

Faytuks Network published footage of M113 ACAV armored personnel carriers crossing the border. The invasion was also confirmed by the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.

In addition, a video was released showing M48A5PI tanks crossing the border.

The Thai Defense Ministry said that this was a response to an alleged provocation by the Cambodian army.

Thai army spokesman Major General Winthai Suwari said that Cambodia had allegedly deployed heavy weapons and fire support systems to hit targets in Thailand and was allegedly the first to open fire.

In turn, the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence emphasized that the country firmly adheres to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

“Instead of resorting to acts of aggression or the use of force, Cambodia has consistently adhered to the resolution of disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, existing treaties, conventions and agreements, seeking to find a solution that is fair, lasting and in accordance with international law,” the Cambodian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, on December 8, Thailand launched air strikes against Cambodia.

The dispute between Thailand and Cambodia mainly concerns the borders and the Preah Vihear temple complex, which is located on the border area. Thailand and Cambodia have not yet finalized the boundaries in the area of the border mountains and forests. Both countries periodically accuse each other of invading and controlling related territories.

The previous border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand occurred in July 2025, a few days after the deaths of two Thai soldiers who were killed by landmines. Then, F-16 fighters of the Thai Air Force retaliated by launching air strikes against Cambodia.

In October 2025, with the mediation of US President Donald Trump, the parties signed a declaration pledging to stop all hostilities and establish good neighborly relations.

Thailand promised to release 18 Cambodian prisoners of war, and Cambodia promised to begin withdrawing heavy artillery from the border. Malaysian observers were to monitor compliance with the ceasefire.
