The Swedish Armed Forces, police, and emergency services conducted a rescue exercise following a simulated drone attack.
SVT reported on the course of the training.
According to the scenario, a drone attack took place near Karlstad’s tourist center, leaving people injured.
During the exercise, around 300 participants, including civilian and military personnel, jointly practiced providing medical assistance and managing the situation at the scene.
This scenario was part of the Twilight 2026 exercise, in which the 31st Ranger Battalion participated over the course of a week.
The exercise scenario is set several years in the future, amid a sharp deterioration in the international situation, with a military operation underway in Värmland.
Region Värmland and the Karlstad Region Rescue Service organized the exercise.
The training also draws on lessons from NATO exercises held in April–May, in which Ukrainian drone operators took part as a simulated adversary and as instructors leading a Swedish Armed Forces training program on the use of drones.
