As a result of a Ukrainian strike on the night of November 14, at least one large fuel storage tank was destroyed at a Russian oil refinery in Saratov.
Analyst MT Anderson published a corresponding satellite image on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
The image shows that as of November 15 – more than 24 hours after the attack – the oil or fuel storage tank was still burning.
The analyst noted that by that time, the tank’s roof had already collapsed. This indicates the explosion and the subsequent fire destroyed it.
The Saratov oil refinery, owned by the company Rosneft, was attacked by Ukrainian strike drones.
In one of the videos released by local residents, the sound of a UAV flying overhead could be heard, along with the Russians’ attempt to shoot it down.
Roman Busargin, the governor of Saratov region, reported on Telegram after 2:00 a.m. about a drone threat in the region, and by after 5:00 a.m., he confirmed an attack by Ukrainian drones.
Meanwhile, Busargin did not specify what exactly was hit, only mentioning damage to allegedly civilian infrastructure.
This was the second attack on a Russian oil refinery in the city over the past week. The previous strike occurred on the night of November 11.
The oil refinery in Saratov is one of the largest in Russia today.
Ukraine’s defense forces carry out periodic strikes with drones and missiles on key enterprises and facilities to reduce the military-economic and offensive capabilities of the aggressor country.
Specifically, on the night of November 13, Ukrainian defenders struck several targets in Russian territory and temporarily occupied areas using domestic Flamingo and Bars missiles, as well as Liutyi UAVs.
