Slovakia wants to produce ammunition jointly with Ukraine

Slovakia is currently in negotiations with Ukraine on joint production of ammunition.

In this way, the country can help Ukraine with the supply of 155mm and 152mm ammunition. The Slovak Republic is one of the countries supporting Ukraine with 152mm ammunition.

The statement was made by Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď, who had previously held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov.

“In the coming days and weeks, we will clarify the details,” Naď said, adding that it might bring significant investment to Slovakia.

Slovakia is also planning to expand the program of training of Ukrainian servicemen and assist in modernization of artillery weapons used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Reznikov expressed his gratitude to the Slovak government and the people of Slovakia for all the transferred military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including MiG-29 fighters, which would protect the Ukrainian sky together with other equipment.

Slovakia has sold seven Zuzana 2-type howitzers to Ukraine.

At the same time, Jaroslav Naď notes that one of eight delivered howitzers has been destroyed so far.

Among the topics of discussion was also the planned counteroffensive of Ukraine, which, according to him, was also real, since a lot of ammunition, heavy equipment and trained soldiers were coming to Ukraine.

“Also the weather. It just has to cooperate. But I believe that the next few months will become a decisive factor for the further development of the war in Ukraine,” said Naď, adding that he expected more optimistic news in the summer.

As reported earlier, Ukraine wants to receive 11 additional Zuzana 2 wheeled self-propelled howitzers from Slovakia.

Besides, in October last year it became known that Germany together with Denmark and Norway would finance the production and delivery of Slovak Zuzana 2 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
