The Ukrainian company ROBONEERS has announced the expansion of the compatibility of its Shablya remote-controlled combat modules (RCCMs), adding domestic weapons to the available options.
This was reported to Militarnyi by the company ROBONEERS.
From now on, the Shablya MK19 can be equipped with an AGL-53 automatic grenade launcher, and the Shablya M2 with an MG-50 QCB machine gun..
“Compatibility with domestic weapons is an important step in the development of the Shablya line, which underscores the company’s strategy of supporting national manufacturers and technological autonomy,” ROBONEERS said.
Previously, Shablya combat modules had already been integrated with 7.62 mm Soviet-style machine guns — PKT and Western-style M240, 12.7 mm caliber machine guns — American M2 Browning and its Turkish counterpart Canik M2 QCB, as well as the MK19 automatic grenade launcher.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense approved the first remotely controlled Shablia combat module for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in September 2023. They are used in the military both as separate automatic turrets for defending positions and for integration into UGVs.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense codified and approved the Ukrainian AGL-53 automatic mounted grenade launcher for military use in March 2025.
The grenade launcher uses 40×53 mm caliber ammunition, which is the standard for automatic grenade launcher systems used by NATO armies.
The presented model visually replicates the design of the American Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher, with minor differences in the design of the muzzle brake and mount.
It is noted that it has better firing accuracy and range compared to its Soviet counterpart, the AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher. The AGL-53 is also noted for its improved ergonomics and reliability. It can be mounted on combat vehicles or light all-terrain transport, and with a special tripod, it can be used as a group infantry weapon.
“Mastering the production of the latest models of weapons and scaling them up is an important task for domestic defense enterprises. It is necessary to accelerate the transition away from the use of technically obsolete Soviet-made weapons by our defenders and to provide the Defense Forces with better domestic weapons models that are unified in terms of ammunition use with NATO armies,” said Valery Churkin, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine at the time.
There is no information about the MG-50 QCB machine gun in open sources. Considering the name and integration into the Sable M2 module, it is likely a 12.7 mm caliber machine gun with a design similar to the M2 Browning.
