Soldiers of the 95th Brigade have successfully shot down an enemy drone with Starstreak.
“Consider this a greeting to Boris Johnson from the Ukrainian paratroopers. Thank you Great Britain. We are efficiently using the support of the allies,” reads the statement.
The use of systems in Ukraine had already been reported in early April.
Starstreak MANPADS was adopted by the United Kingdom in 1997.
The declared effective firing altitude is up to 5000 m, the range is 6000+ m. A missile with a 0.9 kg warhead can reach a speed of 3.5 Mach.
The warhead is made in the form of three kinetic tungsten alloy dart sub-munitions. Guidance occurs through a laser beam in a semi-automatic mode.
MANPADS can be made in various modifications, including manual, stationary on a tripod with three containers of missiles, and combat modules for military equipment.
Previously, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom promised Ukraine new military assistance, including armored vehicles and anti-vessel weapons.
