Saudi Arabia is in talks with Ukraine to purchase interceptor drones designed to counter Iranian Shahed strike drones.
The Wall Street Journal reported on this, citing its own sources.
The potential deal could be worth millions of dollars, though a final agreement has not yet been signed.
In addition to interceptor drones, Saudi Arabia is also considering buying Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) systems to strengthen its defenses against drone attacks.
Meanwhile, other Middle Eastern countries are also showing interest in Ukraine’s counter-drone technologies.
Representatives of Qatar have already visited Ukraine to study the country’s experience in countering drones gained during the war.
Volodymyr Zelensky previously shared that Ukraine had received 11 requests from countries neighboring Iran, as well as from European states and the United States, seeking security assistance to counter Iranian Shahed drones.
According to the President, these countries are interested in the experience of Ukrainian forces, particularly in the use of interception systems, electronic warfare (EW) tools, and specialized training.
Zelensky also said that on March 9, Ukraine sent a team of specialists and interceptor drones to Jordan to help protect U.S. military bases from Iranian drones.
The United States submitted the request for assistance on March 5.
The specialists are expected to help ensure security in the region by drawing on Ukraine’s experience in countering similar threats.
Strengthening the protection of U.S. facilities, particularly in Jordan, is strategically important amid the expansion of the conflict with Iran beyond its borders. Ukraine is using this opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of its drone interception technologies.
