A new S-400 air defense position is likely being constructed on a cleared section of Moskvoretsky Park in Moscow’s Kuntsevo district, according to satellite imagery analysis.
OSINT analysts jembob and Mark Krutov, writing for The Insider, examined the area where local residents protested in May and compared it with similar military sites.
Russian authorities have not confirmed the purpose of the construction.
Satellite images from Copernicus show that about 4 hectares of parkland have been cleared near Medik Stadium.
Analysts note that the site is located on one of the highest elevations in western Moscow within the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, which makes it strategically suitable for air defense deployment.

According to the researcher, the size and shape of this site fully correspond to the parameters of new S-300 and S-400 positions around the Russian capital. At the same time, he noted that this assumption still requires further confirmation.
In the latest satellite images of the cleared forest area, several light-colored objects can be seen. However, due to insufficient resolution of the images, it is currently impossible to determine their exact nature.
These could be either temporary construction structures or heavy equipment, as well as special concrete platforms. The latter are typically used for deploying launchers and radar systems.
Journalist and OSINT analyst Mark Krutov said that new S-300/S-400 sites built in Moscow since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine are similar in size. He pointed to four comparable platforms ranging from 3.6 to 4.6 hectares.
Residents of Moscow’s Kuntsevo district began protesting on May 24 against the destruction of forest in Moskvoretsky Park. Workers with heavy machinery entered the wooded area near the stadium, started cutting down trees, and later paved the cleared land with asphalt.

No permits for the construction work were provided to citizens. On the same day, the prefect of Moscow’s Western Administrative District, Alexey Alexandrov, arrived at the scene and told protesters: “A military facility is being built – what more do you want?”
After that, police officers began detaining participants in the protest following instructions from the official.
