Russians Advance Across Frozen Siverskyi Donets River Toward Zakitne

Russian infantry were able to infiltrate the village of Zakitne in the Donetsk region by crossing the frozen Siverskyi Donets River.

The 7th Air Assault Corps reported this.

According to the statement, the enemy continues offensive operations from three directions, focusing in particular on breaking through the flank of Ukrainian defensive positions.

In recent days, several small enemy groups have managed to cross the Siverskyi Donets River over frozen sections and infiltrated the area between positions.

At present, Ukrainian units are carrying out search-and-strike operations to detect and eliminate the enemy directly within the settlement.

Isolated cases have also been recorded of enemy groups moving along the Siverskyi Donets River from the direction of the Serebrianske forestry and using low-lying terrain, which Russian units employ as cover from strike assets and reconnaissance.

Situation in the area of the Siverskyi Donets River

The 81st Airmobile Brigade is operating in this sector. Over the past month, it has taken more than a dozen Russian servicemen prisoner. According to the captives, commanders of the occupying units are assigning them the task of entering the specified area, which they claim “is not controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.”

However, unmanned systems engage the enemy even on the approaches, resulting in significant losses.

An increase in enemy strike and reconnaissance UAV activity has been recorded, as they attempt to disrupt logistics by targeting the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ lines of communication.

The enemy is actively using so-called “waiting drones,” carrying out remote mining of movement routes, and increasing the use of kamikaze drones and loitering munitions in the area of combat operations.

Additionally, cases have been recorded of the simultaneous use of several types of unmanned aerial vehicles against the positions of the 81st Brigade’s units, which significantly complicates logistical support for the settlements of Platonivka and Dronivka.

As of February 10, part of the settlement of Zakytne remains in the “gray zone,” while the enemy has captured another part.
