Members of the Russian Volunteer Corps, who are fighting on the side of Ukraine, captured 16 Russian soldiers in the Donetsk region.
They reported the operation on Telegram and published a video on YouTube.
The footage shows the clearing of enemy positions and the capture of prisoners who chose to surrender.
The RVC stated that the operation was conducted jointly with the Bratstvo battalion as part of the Tymur special forces unit and soldiers from the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They successfully stopped an attempted breakthrough by Russian forces in the Donetsk region and prevented further advances.
The group said that during infantry assaults and clearing operations in the area, its fighters captured 16 Russian servicemen.
“Among them are the ‘flag bearers’ who were tasked with filming staged reports of Ukrainian settlements being captured, including the village of Andriyivka-Klevtsove,” the RVC stated.
The released footage shows Russian troops surrendering in various locations. The video also shows neutralized enemy forces.
The RVC said the operation involved infantry and tanks, with FPV drone and bomber operators delivering precision strikes.
Previously, the Defense Intelligence reported on two Russian soldiers captured while attempting to plant a Russian flag in Andriyivka-Klevtsove.
Officials reported that Russian forces are increasingly using staged “captures” of settlements to spread disinformation. Small sabotage groups bypass Ukrainian positions, film short videos with the Russian flag, and distribute them through propaganda channels as evidence of territorial gains.
