Today, three Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bombers took off from the Olenya airbase for a five-hour exercise over the Baltic Sea.

This was reported by OSINT analyst AviVector on its X page.

One of the aircraft acted as a repeater, providing communication between the other two Tu-22M3s and command posts.

The bombers were escorted by Su-27 and Su-35S fighters, which provided cover and airspace control during the flight.

In response to the Russian aircraft in the region, the Swedish Air Force deployed JAS 39 Gripen fighters and the Italian Air Force deployed Eurofighter Typhoons. They were lifted from bases in Sweden and Estonia.

On November 24, Russia deployed Tu-22M3 bombers from the Far East closer to Ukraine.

At first, monitoring resources recorded 9 aircraft, then this number increased to 16. All the aircraft were reportedly redeployed from the Far East and landed at the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region.
