On the night of Thursday, October 16, Russia attacked gas production facilities of the DTEK Naftogaz company in the Poltava region.
The DTEK Group reported this on Telegram.
As a result of missile and drone strikes, the operation of the gas production facilities was halted.
The company’s statement says this is yet another Russian strike on its energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Air Force also reported a Russian missile and drone attack in the Poltava region.
In the morning, Volodymyr Kohut, Acting Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that overnight, the Russians carried out a combined missile strike on the territory of the Poltava region.
“Energy infrastructure facilities were under attack. As a result of falling debris and direct hits, oil and gas industry facilities were damaged,” he wrote on Facebook.
According to him, there were no casualties. Due to the enemy’s attack, 6,450 consumers in six settlements were left without a gas supply.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia used more than 300 attack drones and 37 missiles – a significant number of them ballistic – in the strike on Ukraine.
According to the head of state, infrastructure in Vinnytsia, Sumy, and Poltava regions was targeted.
“In the Chernihiv region, the city of Nizhyn was struck – a post office was damaged and one person was injured. In the Kharkiv region, critical infrastructure and a State Emergency Service facility came under attack, resulting in additional injuries. Recovery efforts are actively underway across all affected areas,” President Zelenskyy stated.
As previously reported, Russian forces deliberately targeted a United Nations (UN) humanitarian convoy in the Kherson region.
