Among the passengers on the An-26 aircraft that crashed in Crimea was Lieutenant General Alexander Otroshchenko, commander of the Northern Fleet’s Combined Aviation Corps.
This was reported by the Telegram channel “Dossier of the Spy”. Additionally, according to analysts, six officers from the Northern Fleet headquarters were on board.
It is known that Otroshchenko had headed the Northern Fleet’s Combined Aviation Corps since 2024.
Previously, he commanded the naval aviation of the Black Sea and Northern Fleets, and also served as commander of the 45th Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Northern Fleet.
If this information is confirmed, he will become the 14th known Russian general to have been killed since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
An An-26 military transport aircraft crashed on March 31 in occupied Crimea.
There were 29 people on board; all of them were killed.
Authorities in the Murmansk region confirmed that among the dead were servicemen of the Russian Northern Fleet.
The circumstances of the incident have not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the plane “was not hit” but simply lost contact.
It cannot be ruled out that the crash was caused by a technical malfunction or crew error.
