Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost at least 9,000 officers.
The KIU research group, which monitors losses among the Russian military command, reported this.
The figure represents the minimum confirmed number, as the statistics include only individuals whose identities have been established.
The information is collected from publicly available Russian sources, including obituaries, funeral announcements and memorial plaques.
Over the 1,708 days of the full-scale war, the average number of Russian officers eliminated has remained stable.
On average, around five names are added to the list of confirmed Russian command personnel losses every day.
Journalists previously identified at least 20 Russian army officers eliminated in a missile strike on Donetsk on August 26.
18 of them died on the day of the strike, while two others later died of their injuries.
The officers served at the headquarters of the Center military group: the headquarters of the Central Military District and the headquarters of the 41st Guards Combined Arms Army.
The Russian Knights aerobatic demonstration team also acknowledged the deaths of two of its pilots.
They were Colonel Oleg Yerofeyev, an honoured military pilot and sniper, and Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Kochetov, a senior pilot.
The pilots died on October 21 during a training flight in a Su-30SM fighter jet.
