Russia has introduced a surface logistics drone designed for civilian use, equipped with an internal cargo compartment.
The Russian Dobry Moryachok Telegram channel announced this.
This drone was developed through a collaboration between the companies Si Proekt and Unmanned Logistics.
The drone, named Briz, visually resembles a RHIB boat with cargo and equipment superstructures.
The cargo compartment is equipped with automated doors, allowing the drone to be used as a platform for transporting other drones or missile weaponry.
According to the Russian source, serial production of the device is planned in the Arkhangelsk region to deliver cargo to hard-to-reach areas of the White Sea.
However, it is likely that the Briz serves a dual purpose and is being developed, in particular, to meet the needs of the Russian Navy.
On May 13, Militarnyi reported that the Russian Navy had started the establishment of specialized unmanned systems regiments.
The new regiments will be equipped with a diverse range of advanced robotic technology, including aerial and ground drones, as well as unmanned boats and underwater devices.
Their main tasks will include reconnaissance, striking targets, protecting ships, combating enemy drones, and neutralizing sea mines.
According to preliminary information, at least five such regiments are planned to be established: three of them will be deployed in the European part of Russia, while the other two will be stationed in the Pacific Fleet.
Forming similar units within the Caspian and Dnipro Flotillas is also being considered.
