The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a radar complex in the Crimean Mountains used by the Russian military.

Russian media Astra reported on this.

It is stated that as a result of the morning missile attack, which took place on Monday, May 13, facilities on the territory of the military base were damaged, and the commander of the Russian military unit was killed.

A radar system in the Ai-Petri area, on the top of Bedenekyr, was hit. Radar complexes located on the territory monitor the airspace in the interests of the Russian occupation army.

“Around 6:00 a.m., several missiles (presumably Storm Shadow) attacked military unit #85683 on Ai-Petri (ed. – Bedene-Kyr) mountain in Crimea, as reported by sources in the emergency services of the annexed region,” the report claims.

The mountain is home to the military base of the 3rd Electronic Reconnaissance Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, whose headquarters is located in Sevastopol.

It is claimed that the territory of the military unit was damaged as a result of the missile strike. Its commander, Alexander Kulakov, and another Russian serviceman were allegedly killed. There are also wounded, but their number is being clarified.

Russian occupation authorities did not officially report the incident.

The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country only claimed that air defense systems had allegedly intercepted four Storm Shadow cruise missiles and seven drones over the territory of occupied Crimea.

The Ukrainian military also did not report a missile attack on a military facility used by invaders in Crimea.

After the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula, the invaders formed a unit of the 3rd Electronic Reconnaissance Regiment as part of the Air Surveillance Troops of the Air Force of the Russian Federation radio troops on the top of Bedenekyr on the basis of the 40th Electronic Reconnaissance Brigade of the Air Force of Ukraine.

Back in the Soviet years, the Radar Center for Long-Range Reconnaissance and Guidance of Air Defense Forces was established here. The domes of the radar shields in the form of spheres protect the antennas of radar systems from wind and icing and other atmospheric phenomena and precipitation.
