As a result of a Ukrainian drone strike on the city of Tyumen during the night of October 6, the cooling tower of the oil refinery was damaged.

The OSINT community Dnipro Osint shared this information in its Telegram channel.

Local authorities stated that the detected UAVs on the refinery grounds were neutralized. They denied any fires or explosions.

“There were no casualties, and explosions or fires were prevented. The facilities continue to operate as normal,” the official statement reads.

Witnesses reported hearing loud impacts and a strong noise in the industrial zone area.

Tyumen is located approximately 2,000 km from the state border of Ukraine. This is a record range of impact, which gives the very appearance of UAVs in this region particular significance – even in the absence of officially confirmed damages.

The Tyumen Oil Refinery, formerly known as the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, is one of the largest deep oil processing enterprises in the Ural Federal District of Russia.

Its primary processing capacity exceeds 9 million tons of oil per year. The depth of refining reaches 98%, allowing for the minimization of fuel oil production and an increase in the yield of light petroleum products.

The refinery has a number of technological units: three ELOU-AT systems, vacuum distillation, delayed coking units, diesel fuel hydro-treatment, deparaffinization, liquefied petroleum gas production, and a combined high-octane gasoline unit.

The products include diesel fuel, AI-95/AI-92 gasoline, propane-butane, petroleum coke, and sulfur. The refinery also planned to launch a hydrocracking unit for the production of jet fuel and petrochemicals, but the modernization was halted due to the owner’s financial difficulties.

That same night, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Federal State Enterprise YA. M. Sverdlov Plant (Sverdlov Plant). It is one of Russia’s largest producers of explosive materials.

The facility is capable of equipping nearly all types of munitions, including aircraft and artillery shells, aerial bombs, warheads for guided anti-tank missiles, munitions for combat engineering units, and warheads for air-defense missile systems.
