The Coordination Headquarters for Treatment of Prisoners of War reported another prisoner exchange.
Soldiers and civilians were released from Russian captivity.
Oleksiy Bulakhov, major of the Naval Forces, Mykola Kostenko, senior lieutenant of the Navy, junior sergeant Ivan Zemlianyi, and private Liudmyla Herasymenko returned home.
Ukraine also freed civilians Viktoria Andrusha and Yana Maiboroda.
It was reported that the Russian invaders were keeping Viktoria Andrusha in the club basement in the village of Novyi Bykiv (Chernihiv region). The invaders noticed information about enemy equipment, which she sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the woman’s phone. Later, she was transported to the territory of Russia, where she was held captive.
Yana Maiboroda was also assisting the Ukrainian military, the Coordination Headquarters notes. She visited the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant to photograph the invaders’ equipment and report their locations. During her return home to the Kyiv region, she was captured by the invaders.
Rehabilitation and treatment await the released military and civilians.
“The operation to liberate the prisoners of war was successful, in particular, due to the observance of informational silence. We thank the relatives of the defenders and media for their patience and understanding,” the Coordination Headquarters reported.
They also added that work on further exchanges is ongoing.
As previously reported, on September 21, 2022, Ukraine conducted several exchanges with the Russian Federation and released a total of 215 prisoners of war, including the defenders of “Azovstal”.
