The Portuguese government will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine in 2025 as part of its commitments.
Portugal’s Minister of Defense, Nuno Melo, announced this.
According to him, Portugal will offer Ukraine €226 million in aid in 2025. This funding will be used not only for the direct provision of weapons but also for the purchase of other military equipment.
Furthermore, Portugal plays an active role in European initiatives, such as the Latvian-British drone coalition, to which the country contributed €52 million in 2024.
Portugal has also allocated funds for the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells and has allocated €100 million for this purpose in 2024.

Furthermore, Portugal is actively involved in supporting the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots, being one of the first to announce its participation in the development of the program.
In May 2024, the President of Ukraine signed a bilateral security cooperation agreement with the Prime Minister of Portugal.
This 10-year Ukrainian-Portuguese agreement will pave the way for deeper collaboration between the two countries in both defense and economic sectors, bringing them closer together.
