A significant batch of RAK wheeled self-propelled mortars has been delivered to the 12th Polish Mechanized Brigade.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Pawel Bejda stated that this is the last batch under the contract.
The self-propelled mortars were also delivered to the 15th Mechanized Brigade of the Army, based in the city of Gizycko.
The 120-mm Rak wheeled mortars will increase the capabilities of the Polish army and artillery support for ground forces.
Typically, the Polish Army receives a company set of Rak mortars on a wheeled chassis.
In the Polish army, a company set consists of 8 self-propelled mortars and 4 fire control vehicles.
At the same time, Poland has also agreed to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 120-mm Rak self-propelled mortars.
The 120-mm Rak self-propelled mortar is designed to destroy enemy manpower, armored targets and fortifications.
It is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 12 km and has a 46-round ammunition package. Rak is based on the wheeled chassis of the Rosomak armored personnel carrier. The crew consists of 4 people.
The supply of Rak self-propelled mortars to the Polish Army began after the signing of the first contract for 8 company sets in 2016.
Additional mortars were subsequently ordered for delivery in 2022-2024.
In September, at the MSPO 2024 defense industry exhibition in Poland, the RAK M120 self-propelled 120-mm mortar on the Borsuk tracked chassis was presented.
