Poland is considering acquiring a large batch of Korean-made К2 tanks and FA-50 light combat aircrafts.
This is stated in the article of the Polish edition Wydawnictwo militarne ZBiAM.
Poland can purchase 180 K2 tanks from the Hyundai Rotem, South Korean company.
Some Polish components and systems such as communication equipment or thermal imaging camera KLW-1 Asteria can be used in tanks.
Polish Arms Agency press-secretary Lieutenant Colonel Krzysztof Platek said that the Polish side is waiting for the return of the negotiating groups from the Republic of Korea, which then have to provide their recommendations.
Based on these recommendations, policy decisions will be made.
South Korean media also reported that the Polish side is interested in purchasing an “improved version” of the FA-50 light combat aircrafts.
At the same time, Lieutenant Colonel Platek confirmed that the purchase of FA-50 was considered by the Polish authorities.
During the meetings in Seoul, Minister Blaschak spoke about strengthening the defense potential of the Polish Army with the participation of South Korean defense companies.
The Head of the Polish Defense Ministry and officials discussed ways to accelerate and increase arms supplies to the Polish army with help of South Korean companies.
Blaschak particularly emphasized the need for fast increase of the supply of domestic-made “KRAB” self-propelled howitzers, which have the chassis of Korean K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers of Hanwha Defense.
Hyundai Rotem, the manufacturer of K2 Black Panther tanks, and Hanwha Defense, the manufacturer of K21 IFV, so far refused to confirm whether they are in dialogue with Poland on the export of weapons.
