The Peruvian government has published information for the first time regarding the deaths and disappearances of Peruvian citizens who joined the Russian army to fight in the war against Ukraine.

This was reported by EFE, citing the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to official data, of the 459 Peruvians who joined the Russian forces, 11 were killed, 114 are missing, and three more were taken prisoner by the Ukrainian military.

Thus, 27.2% of all Peruvians who joined the Russian army were killed or went missing. If the three prisoners of war are included, the proportion rises to nearly 28%.

At the same time, the number of those missing in action significantly exceeds the number of confirmed fatalities. Specifically, the 114 missing in action account for nearly a quarter of all Peruvians who joined the Russian army.

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that these figures have been officially confirmed.

At the same time, the relatives of Peruvians recruited into the Russian army claim that the number of possible fatalities is significantly higher, though the Peruvian government has not yet confirmed these figures.

Peruvian authorities have also warned citizens about the risk of falling into recruitment networks under the guise of job offers in Russia.

According to the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, some citizens have reported being forcibly recruited to participate in the war against Ukraine.

Russia has long been recruiting foreigners to participate in the war against Ukraine.

The representatives of certain countries whose citizens have been conscripted into the Russian army are demanding that they be returned to their home countries and that recruitment on their territories be halted.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Russia is in no hurry to exchange foreign prisoners of war who have been captured by Ukraine.
