“Oleksandr Okhrimenko” came to Mykolaiv for dock repairs

“Oleksandr Okhrimenko” (A715) search and rescue vessel of the Ukrainian Navy came to Mykolaiv for dock repairs, reports Militarnyi.

The contractor is the Nibulon Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Plant, the floating dock services are provided by the Mykolaiv Shipbuilding Plant, the online magazine “Mykolaiv – the city of shipbuilders” reports.

At the stage of dock repairs, the vessel will undergo defecting, cleaning, restoration and painting of the outer skin and hull structures. The propeller-rudder system and sea valves will be repaired, etc.

The previous time, “Oleksandr Okhrimenko ” came to the “Nibulon” shipyard in August this year for the next stage of repair works.

It should be noted that the previous stage of repairs was completed in July on the vessel.

At that time, in the waters of the Southern Bug, the crew practiced a series of test exercises in order to increase the combat and professional level of the personnel. The operation of special equipment and main engines at different running modes was tested.

During the repairs, the ship received a new color scheme, it was repainted from red, which it wore in the KP “Marine Search and Rescue Service”, to gray. The main works concerned the repairs of the main power plant of the vessel, as well as repairs of the hull, various life support systems and other activities.

And before that, the ship “Oleksandr Okhrimenko” went to the shipyard of the “Nibulon” company for repairs in May.

“Oleksandr Okhrimenko” search and rescue vessel of 2262 project is designed to provide the full range of diving, hoisting, underwater technical, hydrographic, research and other special works, it can provide firefighting facilities both in port and at sea. The ship was built at the Singapore shipyard Keppel Fels for the USSR. The ship was launched in 1987 as “Svetlomor-4”.
At the end of 1992 the vessel was commissioned with the Black Sea Shipping Company SAR detachment and in 2012 it was renamed Oleksandr Okhrimenko and joined the Maritime Rescue Service (MARS). The ship was later transferred to the Seaports Administration of Ukraine.

On August 29, 2019, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine handed over “Oleksandr Okhrimenko” search and rescue vessel to the Ukrainian Navy. On November 13, 2019 a ceremony of the Ukrainian Navy flag raising on board the vessel took place.
