Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant (KZVV) has developed a remote-controlled mechanized demining system Germina URCM-3000.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced this.

According to the manufacturer, the machine is capable of clearing up to 5 hectares per day and can withstand an anti-tank mine.

The first model is currently undergoing trial operation at one of the mine action operators. After the tests are completed, the URCM-3000 will be sent for certification.

During the test, the machine covered a 100-meter section in 1.5 minutes by burying the working body 5 cm into the ground. The width of the demined strip is 2.7 meters. This makes it possible to clear 1 hectare per hour and up to 5 hectares per shift.

During the demonstration tests, Germina successfully destroyed all the training mock-ups of explosive devices laid out at the training ground, including TM-62 and PTM-4 anti-tank mines, an anti-personnel landmine and hand grenades.

More than 60% of the machine’s components are made in Ukraine. It is equipped with a Caterpillar engine and chassis and hydraulics from leading European and American manufacturers.

The remote control system allows Germina to be operated from a distance of up to one kilometer. The machine can operate continuously for 10 hours.

In the first half of the year, five machines are planned to be delivered for humanitarian demining in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. The warranty period is three years.

The estimated cost of the basic equipment will be EUR 500 thousand, which is several times cheaper than foreign counterparts.

KVV is the manufacturer of the artillery unit of the 2S22 Bohdana 155-mm self-propelled artillery system, so the company is already fulfilling defense orders and may well offer URCM-3000 to the troops.

In addition to the trawl modules, the machine can use buckets, and presumably other engineering equipment. Germina, for example, can be used as an assault vehicle for fencing or as a forward engineering vehicle.

In December 2024, the Ukrainian MR.5100 mechanized demining machine was presented at the Demine Ukraine forum.
