The Polish company Mesko has presented a lightweight anti-tank missile system JACK-S with laser targeting.
This was reported by Militarnyi reporters.
At the international defense industry exhibition MSPO 2024 in Kielce, the Polish company presented the JACK-S missile system. It is a further development of the Polish-Ukrainian Pirat complex.
The guided missile of the system retained the main design solutions, but received a number of changes, including a new target seeking device, a modified rocket motor, an ignition system and a transport and launch container.
The main changes to the system are in the design of the missile, which are intended to significantly optimize and reduce the cost of production. According to the developers, if orders are received, Mesko will be able to produce more Jack-S systems than Pirat.
The main parameters of the Jack-S system remain similar to the Pirat system. The total weight of the missile in the container is 15.5 kg, the range is from 200 to 2600 meters, and the armor penetration is 500 mm behind the front.
The Polish missile is guided at the target by a laser illumination beam, which forms a point on the target where the missile is to hit. The laser illumination device can be installed either on the launcher or separately.
The guidance system developed by the Polish company CRW Telesystem-Mesko allows the use of all target illumination systems that meet NATO standards.
The missile can be guided by laser guidance systems of NATO countries, and the targeting system can be used to guide guided weapons such as Paveway and Laser JDAM bombs, Hellfire missiles, or even MAM-C and MAM-L used with the Bayraktar TB2 UAV.
Despite the fact that the development of the Pirat ATGM, which was based on the design of the Ukrainian RK-3 Corsar missile, was completed in 2021, the Polish army has not been interested in the new product. Only in March last year was the first purchase of a small test batch reported.
Given its success in the domestic market, the company is now focusing more on exports.
This year, the Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems handed over licenses to the Polish defense industry to produce advanced SHARK, MINI SHARK, and PD-2 drones.
