Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine last February, Russia’s invasion forces have lost more than 200,000 killed and wounded.
This was stated by General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, European Pravda reports with reference to Spiegel.
More than 1,800 officers were killed or wounded, he says.
Cavoli stresses that “the scale of this war is incredible”.
The NATO commander in Europe said Russia had already lost more than 2,000 tanks.
Besides, according to him, the Russian army fires more than 23,000 artillery shells on average per day.
Christopher Cavoli notes that after Russia’s full-scale invasion in Ukraine, NATO must adapt to the new reality.
“If someone comes with a tank, you have to have a tank too. One lesson from the Cold War, though, is that weapon accuracy is what matters. In addition, the production capacity of the defense industry is important. The war is won by the one who can produce the fastest,” he said at a traditional lunch at Hamburg City Hall, where he was invited as an honorary guest.
It should be recalled that on February 17, the coordinator for strategic communications of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said that the Russian military formation Wagner PMC had lost more than 30 thousand fighters killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine.
Since mid-December, almost 90% of the dead have been recruited Russian prisoners.
Kirby pointed out that Wagner PMC relied heavily on convicts from Russian prisons to replenish its ranks.
In January, the United States recognized the Russian military formation Wagner PMC as a transnational criminal organization.
