Most of the 2A36 Giatsint-B trailer howitzers have already been converted into 2P22 Bohdana-BG.
This was reported to Militarnyi by sources in military circles.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had up to 180 Hyacinth-Bs in service and storage. According to Oryx, the loss of 17 howitzers of this type has been documented.
Ukrainian artillerymen also received an unknown number of Hyacinth-B guns that were previously in service with Finland.
The shell casing for the Giatsint-B has a longer body and a specific shape that is not compatible with the chambers of other guns.
Probably, the shortage of these shells was the decisive factor for the installation of the artillery unit from the Bohdana. Also, unlike other Soviet guns, the Giatsint-B carriage can carry a 52-caliber heavy gun.
In August 2024, it became known that the designers intended to install an artillery unit from the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer Bohdana on a Soviet artillery system carriage.
In October of the same year, Ukraine demonstrated a prototype of the Bohdana-BG trailer artillery system to foreign partners for the first time.
At the same time, it became known that it was placed on the carriage of the 152-mm artillery system 2A36 Giatsint-B with changes in its design.
In April 2025, a representative of the manufacturer said that the Ukrainian Bohdana-BG trailer gun would receive a new carriage by the end of 2025.
The first Bohdana-BG trailer howitzer has entered service with the 47th Separate Artillery Brigade. It has also been spotted in service with the 13th Khartiia Brigade of the National Guard, the 3rd Assault Brigade and the 147th Artillery Brigade of the Air Assault Forces.
In July, it was reported that from the beginning of 2025 until July of the same year, five batches of Bohdana-BG trailer howitzers were delivered to the army.
