The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the number of CVR(T) combat vehicles to be transferred by Latvia.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense stated this.
“Latvia has announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth €40 million. The package will include 9 CVR (T) armored combat vehicles, drones, and individual equipment for soldiers and sappers. We are grateful to our Latvian friends for their unwavering support. We are stronger together,” the statement reads.
Militarnyi previously reported that Latvia is preparing to transfer a company of 9–12 vehicles.
In total, the Latvian Army has 198 vehicles of the CVR(T) family, namely: FV103 Spartan, FV104 Samaritan, FV105 Sultan, FV106 Samson and FV107 Scimitar.
As part of the contract signed between Latvia and the United Kingdom, the country received 116 modernized CVR(T) combat vehicles and 7 for training.
In 2021, Latvia ordered an additional batch of 86 vehicles of this family, which were delivered in 2022.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively operating CVR(T) tracked armored vehicles, which were donated as part of military aid or purchased by volunteers.
In addition, Latvia plans to transfer Finnish Patria armored modular vehicles to Ukraine in 2025.
The transfer of new AMVs will take place as part of a military assistance package, and the vehicles to be transferred will be from a Latvian order for more than 200 AMVs for its own army.
The Internal Security Bureau of Latvia will donate jackets and boots, fleece jackets, one drone with a bag and battery, and several binoculars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
