The Russian military has begun receiving Lys-2 interceptor drones capable of shooting down Ukrainian UAVs.

This was reported by an analyst from The Dead District, who posted photos of the drones on social media platform X.

The drone has been equipped with automatic target acquisition, allowing it to track and engage aerial targets.

The full technical specifications of the Lys-2 have not been officially disclosed.

The new Russian interceptor drone is designed using a ‘wing’ aerodynamic configuration. The ‘wing’ configuration generates lift through forward motion, so the drone does not ‘hover’ in the air continuously like a copter, but rather glides forward efficiently and is capable of reaching higher speeds and altitudes.

Typically, such interceptors reach speeds of 200–230 km/h and have a range of up to 5 km.

In March, the Ukrainian company OSIRIS AI unveiled the UEB-1 interceptor drone, capable of reaching speeds of up to 315 km/h.
