Lockheed Martin Corp. was awarded a contract for the production of PAC-3 missiles of the Patriot system for the United States and other countries.
This is announced in a statement released on the website of the U.S. Department of State.
The contract value is estimated at $556 million, with an estimated completion date of December 31, 2032.
The foreign countries in the contract list Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates.
The list also includes European countries, namely Poland and Switzerland.
Currently, Switzerland is not an operator of the Patriot system.
The country entered into an agreement to acquire five complexes in 2021, at a cost of CHF 1.987 billion.
At the same time, the Federal Department of Defence of Switzerland does not disclose the terms of delivery.
Militarnyi previously reported that the US allowed the Foreign Military Sale of Patriot systems to Poland for an estimated cost of $15 billion.
The request included: 48 PATRIOT M903 Launch Stations, up to 644 PATRIOT Advanced Capability (PAC) 3 Missile Segment Enhanced (MSE) missiles, 12 Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensors (LTAMDS), and 12 Large Tactical Power Systems (LTPS) for the LTAMDS.
Also included were communications equipment, support equipment, spare parts, repair parts, and Global Positioning System PPS (SAASM) receivers.
In addition, Romania is expanding the production of missiles for the Patriot system. The capacities of the future enterprise should cover the needs of the Romanian armed forces and foreign customers.
Raytheon expects that the European part of the 19 Patriot operator countries will be supplied with Romania-produced missiles.
