The Lithuanian “Mazi, bet stiprus” volunteer organization is collecting funds to purchase hundreds of FPV drones for the Ukrainian military.
The Lithuanian media reported on this.
The “Songs of Drones” campaign in support of Ukraine was launched on July 19 and will last until August 24, the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Until then, “Mazi, bet stiprus” aims to collect €300,000 and use these funds to purchase 500 TORO FPV drones developed by Ukrainian and Lithuanian engineers. They are considered to be among the best kamikaze drones in their class.
“Ukraine is born every day when it does not die. Therefore, the swarm of 500 drones sent by Lithuania on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day will be the best gift we can give it now,” said Raimundas Aleknavičius, the campaign’s initiator.
According to him, drones are currently one of the most influential factors on the front line, and the use of UAVs during combat operations is becoming more and more frequent.
“The war in Ukraine will go down in world military history as a war of constantly developing unmanned aerial vehicles. Along with Bayraktar, commercial DJI, and various unmanned aerial vehicles, FPV-type drones are becoming even more important in the war against Ukraine,” Aleknavičius shared.
In the Russian-Ukrainian war, both sides are actively using FPV drones as attack drones to neutralize armored vehicles, heavy weapons crews, and other important targets.
The Security Service of Ukraine soldiers were among the first in the Ukrainian Defense Forces to use such UAVs. They occasionally publish videos of the invader’s destruction.
In July, Ukrainian soldiers of the 108th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion neutralized the Russian commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, known by the call sign “Tashkent”, with a similar drone.
The FPV drone used by Ukrainian operators hit a car and, as was reported later, neutralized the brigade’s commanding officer.
Propagandists claim that under “Tashkent’s” leadership, the invasion forces participated in the battles for Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, and Rubizhne.
