The Lithuanian volunteer organization Blue/Yellow have reported that all 16 tactical radars purchased for Ukraine by the organization with the funds of benefactors arrived in Lithuania.
RADA ieMHR radars are designed to detect aerial objects. They should strengthen Ukraine’s defense against Russian air attacks.
According to the volunteers, three radars are already on their way to the Armed Forces, the rest are being prepared for transportation and transfer to the Ukrainian military.
The purchase procedures and arrangement of their shipment to Lithuania took about a month.
Blue/Yellow reassure that Ukrainian specialists are already trained and ready to work with RADA ieMHR tactical radars.
In March, a group of Ukrainian military personnel visited Lithuania to undergo special training in order to learn how to use these radars correctly. The training course lasted four days: two days were devoted to theoretical classes in classrooms, and the other two – to practical work.
The volunteers note that in total Ukraine will receive sixteen radars instead of the previously planned 14, of which 12 will be regular stationary ones and 4 more will be mobile ones.
Funds for modern Israeli-made radars were collected under the fundraising campaign, which started on January 30 and received the Lithuanian name RADAROM!
The public initiatives “Blue/Yellow”, “Laisvės TV”, “1K fondas”, and “Stiprūs kartu”, along with the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT are participating in the campaign.
Initially, they planned to raise at least €5 million, but already in the first week of the fundraising, the collected amount reached 6 million euros. The campaign ended after four weeks with the organizers managing to raise €14 million.
The ieMHR radar is a tactical three-dimensional radar manufactured by the Israeli company RADA, which is capable of detecting even small targets in the scanning area. It provides the operator of the system with information about the position and altitude of detected flying objects. According to the manufacturer, the radar is able to work effectively in conditions of active use of radio-electronic interference.
It is stated that the radar can also be used in counter-battery combat to detect the direction of enemy artillery fire. It is capable of detecting firing positions of artillery systems at a distance of up to 12 kilometers.
