Lithuania is preparing to impose an entry ban on Russian citizens who participated in the war against Ukraine.
The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with Estonia, which has already begun to implement similar restrictions, according to LRT.
Vladislav Kondratovič, Lithuanian Minister of the Interior, spoke about the preparation of appropriate measures.
According to him, a list of Russian military personnel involved in hostilities against Ukraine is currently being compiled.
Meanwhile, the government is working out the practical aspects of implementing such a decision.
Kondratovič stressed that before introducing the ban, it is necessary to verify the accuracy and reliability of the data.
According to him, it is important to avoid possible legal disputes in the future. The Minister also said that the Estonian side already has a corresponding list and has begun to apply it in practice.
It is expected that Lithuanian institutions will use this data to form their own entry restrictions.
According to estimates by the Lithuanian government, the number of Russians who could have participated in the war against Ukraine could reach hundreds of thousands.
At present, the Lithuanian Migration Department has not yet received the official lists but has stated that it will make a decision once it receives the relevant information in accordance with current legislation.
Militarnyi recently took a detailed look at Lithuania’s military support for Ukraine.
