Ukraine is in talks with Poland over a €120 million loan to finance the purchase of Polish-made weapons, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in an interview with Ukrinform news agency.
According to Sybiha, the issue was raised during a recent meeting with Poland’s foreign minister.
“We are interested in a number of Polish-made systems that have already demonstrated their effectiveness on the battlefield,” Sybiha said.
He cited the Piorun MANPADS and the Krab self-propelled howitzers, which Ukrainian forces are already actively using.
Sybiha stressed that in wartime there was no such thing as too many weapons, and said Ukraine was seeking not only imports, but also joint production agreements.
“We will discuss co-production — both in Ukraine and in Poland,” he said.
He described this as a shared and mutually beneficial interest, contributing to the security of both nations.
Kyiv has also raised the possibility of Poland transferring additional Soviet-era fighter jets. However, according to Sybiha, Warsaw is not prepared to move forward on this at the moment.
As of 2024, the Polish Air Force operated 11 MiG-29A fighters and three MiG-29UB trainers — 14 aircraft in total.

Poland no longer considers the aging Soviet jets adequate for its defense needs. Its airspace is currently guarded by F-16s, and deliveries of American-made F-35 fighters are expected to begin in 2026.
