Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia have signed a trilateral declaration on a military alliance, intended to serve as a warning to other countries.

The signing of this memorandum took place in Albania, where Albania’s Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, welcomed his colleagues from Kosovo, Ejup Maqedonci, and from Croatia, Ivan Anušić, with high military honors.

The Minister of Defense of Kosovo stated that the goal of the cooperation is not to threaten anyone, but rather to send a signal to those who intend to put the region at risk.

“We are showing that together we will not allow anyone to destabilize the region. I thank the ministers of Albania and Croatia for this initiative and believe that this agreement is the first trilateral one in the region. Once again, this declaration is a signal to every country that seeks to destabilize the situation: we are united, and we expect other countries to join us,” Maqedonci stated.

The signed memorandum aims to improve cooperation in strengthening defense potential and the defense industry.

It also aims to enhance operational interoperability, counter hybrid threats, and strengthen strategic resilience.

The document includes a clause on providing full support for Euro-Atlantic integration and regional defense.

The military relations between Albania and Kosovo have been very close for a long time.

Both countries (Ukraine does not recognize the state of Kosovo – ed.) share a common history, culture, and language, which fosters close cooperation in various areas, including the military.

Albania and Kosovo actively cooperate in the field of security, exchanging information, experience, and conducting joint exercises. Both countries aim to strengthen regional security and stability.

Albania also provides significant support to the KSF (Kosovo Security Force), including training, technical assistance, and logistical support. Albania also helps the KSF achieve operational interoperability with NATO standards.

Meanwhile, the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo provided Ukraine with two military aid packages in 2024.
