Knyaz Veschiy Oleg – New Russian Drone Failed Reconnaissance Over the Lyman Region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a new Russian reconnaissance drone called Knyaz Veschiy Oleg.

The video posted by the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade captures the moment the enemy reconnaissance drone was hit.

The anti-aircraft gunners of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade accurately targeted the drone and disabled it.

There is no information about the technical characteristics of the Knyaz[…] in open sources – the model is unknown, and no public information about the manufacturer or the sensor package was found.

Judging by the footage, the drone was performing a reconnaissance mission: it flew at a medium altitude and conducted video surveillance in the Lyman region.

The 63rd air defense unit demonstrated a standard detection and targeting algorithm: target compartment, munition launch, fragmentation of the body; the result was that the drone was eliminated.

“This is not a wunderwaffe – any enemy platforms that violate the sky of the Lyman region will be destroyed,” the 63rd Brigade emphasized.

The downing of the Knyaz Veschiy Oleg is another confirmation of the effectiveness of air defense systems and the combat readiness of units in the area of responsibility.

Russia recently lost a Ka-52 helicopter with its crew.
