Ukraine’s 20th Separate K-2 Unmanned Systems Regiment has announced the creation of the world’s first battalion of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), according to a statement by the unit’s press service.
Recruitment for the new unit is already underway.
The regiment has experience operating UGVs on the battlefield.
Recently, K-2 operators evacuated four wounded Ukrainian servicemen over four days using ground robotic systems.
A video published by the unit shows a UGV reaching the front line and completing the mission.
The 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems was established in early December 2024, based on the second mechanized battalion K-2 of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
The unit is currently hiring for a wide range of positions: from accountants and auto electricians to reconnaissance specialists, UAV operators, and electronic warfare personnel. Recruitment details are available on the official website.
The regiment has launched a fundraising campaign together with Nova Poshta titled “Pimp my Robot” to support the new UGV battalion. The goal is to raise ₴20 million.
“The funds will go toward equipping a maintenance workshop, upgrading UGVs, reinforcing evacuation trailers, furnishing workstations for crews, paying for satellite communications, setting up a permanent base for the battalion, and fitting trailers with winches for transporting UGVs,” the regiment said.
More about the fundraiser and ways to take part is available on the unit’s official Facebook page.
An open vacancy for a UGV operator is already listed on the regiment’s website, with more positions expected to follow soon.
