Japan Has Transferred Over 130 Military Vehicles to Ukraine

Japan has transferred an additional 30 military vehicles to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces of Japan announced a new batch of vehicles for Ukraine.

In addition to the 101 vehicles already delivered, Tokyo has sent 30 more vehicles.

“Japan hopes that these vehicles will be useful for Ukraine,” the Japanese defense ministry said in a statement on Twitter/X.

Japan made the first delivery in June 2024. At that time, Ukraine received 101 vehicles, including Toyota HMV army off-road vehicles, Mitsubishi Type 73 Kogata, and tracked engineering vehicles.

In February 2025, the Japanese defense ministry delivered six more vehicles, and the current delivery in October was the third phase of the technical assistance program to Ukraine.

In addition to vehicles, Japan provides non-lethal aid to Ukraine, including bulletproof vests, gas masks, helmets, and surveillance drones.

Tokyo also participates in international coalitions for demining and IT support declared by Ukraine’s partner countries.

The transfer of equipment took place at the request of the Ukrainian government and in accordance with a decision made by the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers in May 2023.

“Japan will continue to support Ukraine,” the Ministry of Defense of Japan emphasized.

In addition to providing equipment, Japan is also implementing a rehabilitation program for the Ukrainian military.

In particular, in February 2025, it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of Japan would accept wounded Ukrainian servicemen for treatment.
