Photos featuring Italian OTO Melara M109L self-propelled howitzers that arrived in Ukraine have appeared on social networks.

The photos were published on Twitter.

Italian media reported on the transfer of these self-propelled howitzers to the Defense Forces of Ukraine last year.

Images of Ukrainian soldiers standing near these howitzers appeared today.

First images of OTO Melara M109L 155mm self-propelled guns delivered from Italy to Ukraine appeared today.

Despite Italian government keeping aid to Ukraine under secrecy, reportedly around 20-30 M109L were to be delivered to Ukrainian military.

The howitzers have likely been transferred as part of the military aid that Italy provides to Ukraine.

The M109L is an Italian version of the American M109 self-propelled howitzer. The howitzer is equipped with a gun of 39 calibers in length, which provides a maximum range of 24-30 km.

As the Italian mass media wrote, the M109L self-propelled howitzers had to undergo a check of their technical conditions before being sent to Ukraine.

The exact amount of weapons that Italy transferred to Ukraine is not disclosed.

As previously reported, in January, the military of the Ukrainian Armed Forces spoke about the combat work of the M109 self-propelled howitzers in the Donetsk region.

Gunners note that the М109 can strike the enemy at a distance of up to 20 kilometers, and the maximum range of its work reaches 30 kilometers, depending on the projectile type.

The military operating М109 self-propelled guns shared that they are satisfied with this artillery system.

Italy has presumably transferred the Panzerhaubitze 2000 155mm self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. For the first time, the transfer of Italian PzH 2000 was revealed to Italian media in October last year. The number of transferred ACS is unknown, however it was previously stated that Italy would deliver six units.
