The Ukrainian company Infozahyst presented the Archon signals intelligence (SIGINT) system in Estonia for the first time.
The presentation was made during the Electronic Warfare Live (EW Live) exhibition, which took place in the Estonian city of Tartu from September 17 to 19, 2024.
It is held only once every two years and is organized with the participation of the Estonian Ministry of Defense and the Estonian Defense Forces.
The event is dedicated to the rapid development of signals intelligence and electronic warfare (EW) equipment, and its main feature is the demonstration of the capabilities of real samples of equipment in the field.
The Infozahyst company said that the Archon SIGINT system was presented for the first time at the exhibition, which aroused “considerable interest among representatives of military departments not only of European countries but also of distant countries of Asia and America.”
Their Pluton unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) detection and warning system was also not ignored.
“With the increasing use of drones during the Russian-Ukrainian war and in the world at large, the relevance of such tools is only growing,” the company said.
It is worth noting that at the end of last year, Anton Shcherbakov, a representative of Infozakhyst, discussed the creation of the Archon signals intelligence system in his publication on DOU. According to him, the system is implemented in both stationary and mobile versions. It has a powerful antenna that can receive signals in the lower frequency range.
It is reported that the Archon system contains posts that are combined into a radio direction finding network and provide the position of radiation sources in a passive mode, while remaining invisible to enemy signals intelligence.
It is noted that each of the posts, depending on the combat situation and tasks, is capable of performing the functions of the main radio monitoring post. The system also includes domestic software for signal processing, identification, classification, etc.
In addition, according to a representative of Infozahyst, the software has elements of artificial intelligence. They “allow the operator to be linked to specific radio sources and improve the process of performing tasks.”
Moreover, the developers reported that the Archon system has already been used to detect signals from Russian weapons.
