Ukrainian soldiers shot down a Russian reconnaissance drone in the Mykolaiv region.
Journalist Yuriy Butusov announced this in his Telegram channel.
This is referred to the “Kartograf” UAV.
Photos show the hull of a drone with a camera that has 12 lenses. It indicates the model and the characteristic blue colour of the hull.
This is not a unique case when the Armed Forces of Ukraine shoot down such a drone. The day before, on September 2, the Ukrainian military “landed” another “Kartograph” drone.
The drone is designed for panoramic aerial and video shooting with the ability to transmit the collected information to the control point in real time.
It can be used for reconnaissance in order to adjust artillery fire or missile strikes.
The “Kartograf” UAV is immensely similar to the Orlan family of aircraft, but has a number of differences.
Individual components of the UAV, in particular the optical-electronic system, are manufactured by a Russian company that is under US sanctions and works together with the Orlan UAV manufacturing plant.
Presumably, the drone is not used by the Ministry of Defense of Russia, but by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
